Description:
To provide emergency services to people in need and/or experiencing a crisis in their lives who need a little help. Services include: food, clothing, rent referrals from EAS, utilities (gas, electric water), prescription, dental (limited) and transportation assistance for work or medical appointments (gas voucher/Topeka Metro bus tickets - in city only).
Food Assistance available every 30 days; Clothing room visits are very two weeks; Rent and Utility Assistance available ONE time in 12 months from any agency, as funds are available; Prescriptions and Transportation Assistance available TWO times in 12 months from any agency. Transportation in the form of gas vouchers and Topeka Metro reduced fare bus tickets for travel to work, job interviews and medical appointments. Dental assistance limited to one time per person. We will pay to have 1-2 teeth pulled or enrollment fee for dental clinic as funds are available. Prescription assistance requires a printout or fax from the pharmacy of the medications needed. Please note we will not pay for pain pills or other narcotics. Doorstep works with a limited number of pharmacies, and you may have to transfer your prescriptions for us to assist. It is always best to call the office to get more information.
