Description:

To help citizens and local governments mitigate against, prepare for, respond to, and recover from all types of emergencies and disasters (natural, technological, and national security). Sedgwick County Emergency Management coordinates governmental and private sector responses to disasters and emergency situations. Emergency Management prepares for disasters (hoping they never happen) and then provides structure and coordination when it does happen. Provide training for CERT (Community Emergency Response Teams) which includes fire suppression, medical triage, damage assessment, and light search and rescue to citizens of Sedgwick County in order to help their neighbors when disaster strikes.
Sedgwick County Emergency Management seeks to:
Reduce the impact of emergencies and disasters of all types on Sedgwick County;
Maintain an effective, well-trained and equipped staff, reserve and volunteer force;
Increase the effectiveness, responsiveness and utility of the Sedgwick County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in meeting the needs of the support agencies.
