Communities In Schools of Mid-America

Description:

SparkWheel works in 37 schools across Kansas, serving more than 25,000 students each year. Our school-based Site Coordinators help young people unlock their potential to find success in school and life. We collaborate with schools, community organizations, local businesses, and volunteers to provide whole-school programming and individualized case-management services that engage students and families, build lasting relationships, break down barriers, and prepare students for their future.

Our evidenced Model of Integrated Student Supports is proven to reduce drop-out rates and increase graduation rates. This three-tiered approach provides whole-school programming to promote a positive school climate and address school-wide risk factors such as poor attendance, low test scores, and lack of student engagement. We also provide intensive, individualized service to students struggling with academics, attendance, behavior, and/or social-emotional learning skills. These students received targeted interventions and one-to-one case management support to help them achieve their goals. Additionally, CIS of Mid-America ensures all students come to school prepared to learn by providing basic needs items such as food, clothing, school supplies, and more.
