A food pantry where dignity and kindness are found in every aisle. Our Daily Bread Food Pantry at Catholic Charities is open to anyone in the greater Wichita area who is hungry and needs food for themselves or their families. Once each month, a person has a shopping experience to select the food items they or their families will enjoy for 2-3 days. The pantry is open three days a week. Pet food is occasionally available depending on donations received. TEFAP commodities are available the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

8:30 am - 12 pm, Tues, Wed, Thurs; 9 am - 12pm; 4th Saturdays of each month. Closed Mon and Fri.

Intake Process:

Clients fill out an annual application. On the first visit, please bring a picture ID for the person picking up food, a form of ID for everyone in the household (school ID, medical card, Social Security card, etc.) and valid proof of current address (utility bill in past 30 days). After the first visit, only an ID for the person picking up the food is required. Additional paperwork required for TEFAP commodities. commodities are available on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

There are no income requirements. Clients fill out an annual application. On the first visit, please bring a picture ID for the person picking up food, a form of ID for everyone in the household (school ID, medical card, Social Security card, etc.) and valid proof of current address (utility bill in past 30 days). After the first visit, only an ID for the person picking up the food is required. For TEFAP commodities, a person is eligible if they participate in any one of these benefit programs: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Refugee Assistance (RE), General Assistance (GE) or Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), or if they meet income eligibility guidelines.

The items most often needed are canned fruit and vegetables, canned tuna and chicken, and breakfast foods. Cash donations made to Our Daily Bread allow Catholic Charities to purchase deeply discounted food in bulk from the Kansas Food Bank.

Description

Provisions of packages food for families and individuals through “clients choice” model (Clients choose their own food from shelves). Clients may receive services once a month. Baby food, pet food, diapers and hygiene items as available. TEFAP Commodities distributed every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.

On first visit adults age 18 & older must provide a photo ID, identification for family members (medical cards, immunization records, Social Security cards, etc.) and proof of address for the past 30 days (copy of utility bill, rental agreement, etc). Identification must be originals.
