Description:
Elevate Cowley County is a financial wellness program, offering participants the powerful combination of financial education and long-term intentional relationships to help rise up out of financial struggle. We work with individuals and families by providing financial education (making a budget, building credit and improving credit scores, setting up an emergency fund, setting personal and financial goals, as well as focus on roadblocks preventing achieving goals). We provide financial education for 12-16 weeks, and then the participants (called !Leaders!) are paired up with a community volunteer (called an !Ally!). Allies are not in poverty and are typically middle-high income; they provide social support and encouragement, helping the leaders to work towards their goals of financial independence.
In non-Covid times, we meet weekly with a meal and age-appropriate children's programming created to meet the educational needs of kids in generational poverty for soft skills education. During Covid, we have been meeting remotely each week via a Zoom meeting.
